    It was a wet day in Maebh’s beautiful village, it had been raining somedays now, the surrounding green forests and rolling hills were awash with rain water and gleaming in the spring morning sun. As always she had a smile on her face as she worked in her carpentry shop. There was a knock on the heavy oak door and when she opened it to her great surprise it was her dear mentor and friend Stíofán standing there with a great, caring smile on his face.

    Maebh excitedly brought him inside and offered him a cup of tea and some fresh soda bread heavily covered with rich fresh salted butter.

                                                            Maebh showed him some of her recent projects which he like so much although he could convince her that they were masterful. Maebh told him that she wanted to master herself and her Wood working skills. The old man smiled and said, “Self-mastery is the key to unlocking your full potential and living a life of purpose and joy.”

    Maebh was curious and asked the druid to explain further. Stíofán said, “Self-mastery is the process of gaining control over your thoughts, emotions, and actions. When you master yourself, you become the master of your life. You are able to make conscious choices that align with your values and goals.”

    Maebh was fascinated by the old man’s words and asked him to show her how to master herself. He said, “The first step to self-mastery is to become aware of your thoughts and emotions. This requires you to pay attention to what you are thinking and feeling. Then, you can start to take control of your thoughts and emotions, rather than letting them control you.”

    Maebh followed the kind man’s advice and started paying attention to her thoughts and emotions. At first, it was difficult to recognize her thoughts and emotions, but with time, she became more and more skilled at it. She noticed that she was becoming more self-aware and was able to take control of her thoughts and emotions.

    On a cool Sunday morning she sat down with a brew and her journal in hand, as she was reflecting on the past months in her journal she had a powerful realization. She realized that she was the master of her life and that anything was possible. She felt as if a weight had been lifted from her shoulders and she was filled with a sense of freedom and joy.

    Maebh thanked Stíofán for his guidance the following spring when they met again. Stiófán could clearly see that Maebh was more confident and in control of her life than ever before. He asked her to join him with a group of young villagers and share her story and teach them how to master themselves.

    In no time, the village was filled with confident and self-assured individuals. People started to take control of their lives and live with purpose and joy, there was no longer a need to blame others on misfortune. Both Young and old learned and prospered in their lives thanks to Maeve’s caring words.

    Maebh a beautiful middle-aged woman with a tall stature and long, red curly hair loved to walk through the Sunday market. One May Sunday morning dressed in an emerald green dress she was strolling through the medieval Irish village close to where she lived. When she stopped at a market stall to look at some books, and soon found herself chatting with the vendor, a kind and soft-spoken man in his late fifties called Stíofán. He was dressed in heavy wool clothing and had a short beard. Maebh was searching through the books on the stand when she came across an old leather bound book that caught her eye. She scanned through its pages, lost in thought, when she asked herself out loud, “What is the hidden cause of all things?”

    Stiófán, who had been watching Maebh curiously, took a step forward and replied in a warm and friendly tone, “Ah, that is a question that has been asked by many, my lady. The hidden cause of all things can be elusive, but it is said to be the underlying force that explains the existence and workings of the universe.”

                                                                         Maebh was a curious woman who always wanted to know the reasons behind everything. She had a thirst for knowledge that led her to explore different aspects of life and the world around her. So it wasn’t surprising that her interest piqued, and she asked the vendor to tell her more. He explained that there was a secret force that governed the universe and that by understanding it, she could control her own life and find peace and happiness. She was intrigued by this idea and decided to buy the old book to find out more about it. This simple looking book led Maebh to ask more and more questions about herself and so she began her journey to answer her questions by reading books, attending local lectures organised by Stiófán and meditating.

                                                                               She learned that the hidden cause of things was not just a physical force, but a spiritual one. It was an energy that was present in all living things and was the source of all life and creation.

    She learned that this energy could be accessed through meditation, and so she decided to try it. She found a quiet place, closed her eyes and focused on her breath. She let go of all her thoughts and feelings, and just allowed herself to be present in the moment.

    After a few minutes, Maebh felt a warm energy flowing through her body. It was as if a light was shining from within, filling her with a sense of peace and calm. She felt as though she had connected with the hidden cause of things and was in harmony with the universe. Grabbing a journal she had stored away she began writing down her experience and feelings in the journal, which she has done everyday since then.

Very surprised and delighted to see her, he invited Maebh to lunch in a local bar known to be used by the traveling traders.

    Stíofán asked Maebh what she was searching for and she told him that she wanted to find the greatest magic of all. The older man smiled and said, “The greatest magic of all is within you. It’s the power to create your own reality and live a life full of joy, love, and happiness.”

    Maebh was totaly confused and asked her dear friend to explain further. Stíofán said, “You see, Maebh, our thoughts and beliefs shape our reality. If you believe that you can have a life full of joy and happiness, then that is what you will create. On the other hand, if you believe that life is hard and full of suffering, then that is what you will experience.”

              Maebh was fascinated by his words and asked him to show her how to find this magic within her. Stíofán said, “The first step is to quiet your mind and focus on your breath. When you do this, you will become aware of your thoughts and beliefs. Then, you can start to change the ones that do not serve you and replace them with positive ones.”

    Maebh decided to stay a while in the village and follow Stíofán’s advice. Every morning she added the technique to her daily meditations. At first, it was difficult to quiet her mind, but with time, she became more and more skilled at it. She noticed that her thoughts and beliefs were starting to change. She became more positive and optimistic about life. She also noticed that she was attracting more joy, love, and happiness into her life.

    One day, as she was meditating, she had a powerful experience. She felt as if a light had been turned on inside her and she was filled with love and happiness. She felt that she had discovered the greatest magic of all.

    Maebh thanked Stíofán from the bottom of her heart for his guidance and set out on her journey back to her village. When she returned, everyone was amazed at the change in her. She was even more kind and joyful than before. She shared her story with everyone including the old stubborn fishermen and taught them how to quiet their minds and focus on their breath.

    In no time, the entire village was filled with love and happiness. People started to create their own realities and live lives full of joy and contentment.

    To rediscover this magic within you, I offer you this meditation:

    Sit or lie comfortably in a dark room with a white candle burning. Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Focus on your breath and feel the air entering and leaving your body. Let go of any thoughts or worries and simply focus on your breath.

    Imagine a bright light inside you. See this light growing stronger and brighter with each breath. This light is the greatest magic of all.

    Visualize yourself surrounded by love and happiness. See yourself creating your own reality, filled with joy and contentment.

    Repeat this mantra to yourself: “I am the master of my thoughts and beliefs. I choose to believe that I can live a life full of joy and love.

  • The Secret Self

    Late one Saturday evening after talking with some friends Maebh came to realize that she was a busy woman who always felt like she was running from one thing to the next. She truly was a workaholic, who also had a busy social life, so as you can imagine she felt like she was always on the go. Despite all of her accomplishments, Maebh felt like something was missing from her life.

    One day, Maebh listened to Stíofán talking about the concept of “discovering the secret self”. He spoke how it was a journey of self-discovery that would help her find happiness and fulfillment. Maebh was again intrigued by his wisdom and so divided back into her books to find out more. Her beacon had shown more light on her true path.

    She started reading books and attending workshops on the topic, and soon she realized that discovering the secret self meant learning to listen to her inner voice and to live a life that was true to herself however difficult it may be. Maebh was struck by the simplicity of the idea, and she felt that this was something that she had been searching for all her life.

    Maebh began to practice new meditation methods as a way to connect with her inner voice. She would sit quietly, close her eyes, and focus on her breath. She would imagine a bright light shining within her, and she would allow herself to be surrounded by peace and calm.

    As she continued to practice this meditation and journal, Maebh began to notice changes in herself. She felt more relaxed and at peace. She found that she was able to listen to her inner voice more clearly and to make decisions that were true to herself.

    One cold winters morning, Maebh had a profound experience while she was meditating. This meant letting go of the expectations of others and exploring your own desires and interests which some close friends found difficult to accept at first.

    By doing this, you can find happiness and fulfillment and become the person you were meant to be. Maebh recommended a simple meditation to help others rediscover their secret self.
